Default Noob trying to find plants

I’m thirteen and looking into growing bananas but I’m in Virginia so I need a somewhat cold hardy species and I need to know where to get it. Can I order them? If so where? I know they can be grown here because there are a few people who have fruiting trees in there yards in my town. Just need someone to point me in the right direction

Welcome to the Bunch. .... Ask those few in your town what kind of banana they have and getting a pup. Orinoco, Carolina King and Basjoo are likely the bananas they have. These are cold hardy and the first 2 are good desert types. The Basjoo has seeds and considered to be an ornamental type in the US. But it is also eaten in the Asian counties & Japan. .... This would be your quickest way to get started. You only need 2 or 3 pups about 30" tall.

Check local first...big box stores will have them as ornamentals and they would be on sale now. Better nurserys willl too.

Another good way(recommended) is start a conversation with the folks who have the fruiting plants and they might reserve a plant for you.
They might even dig a plant while you are there.

Gardners are very generous people when it comes to sharing plants and advice.

Also place a post in the plants wanted section and you will get a few good leads .

Good luck
