Newbie from Southern California
Hello from Southern California. I'm a newbie. I had a plant I bought about a year and a half ago and a few days ago I walked out and saw sticky sap on the ground. I looked up to a few bunches of bananas. I was so excited and so clueless. I found this site and have been obsessed ever since. We are still trying to ID the type but I'm having a great time learning about bananas. This is a great site and everyone has been sooooo nice and sooooo helpful. Love it!!

Re: Newbie from Southern California
Welcome from a fellow SoCal grower! Look out, because once you get that first bunch, it can become quite addicting!

Jen, what community do you live in? Add it to your profile (under User CP) when you get a chance.
Oh yes, and don't miss the Festival of Fruit 2008 on the 19th and 20th of September at CSU Fullerton!

Re: Newbie from Southern California
Welcome, Jen. As Anna says, bananas can be quite addicting, so be careful. I'm from NorCal in the delta, by the ways.
Jon of Encanto Farms has the biggest selection of bananas in the state and I've visited him a couple of times (three times if I count the time I drove my wife and son by in March so they knew what I was talking about). If you decide to expand your collection, Jon's a great source for both information and plants. Enjoy the family of banana enthusiasts, here! Harvey |
