Newbie from the Netherlands (zone 8).
Hello everyone,
I am a new member from the Netherlands and probably like all of you completely mad about banana's, especially those that have some kind of winter-hardyness. Browsing a little through this forum makes me agree with Erland very much, it's a very professional as well as a kind forum. Also a vary nice PHP structure and easy to oversee, not as chaotic as some other forums are. I am also (just like Erland) a member of the Gardenweb-Bananaforum (and will continue to be active there as well) but hope to be able to learn a lot here. Thanks, Regards, Remko. |

Re: Newbie from the Netherlands (zone 8).
Hi everybody and thanks for the weloming words!
I'm active in cool tropical gardening for about 6 years now and have quite a collection already, bananas (ofcourse), palms, gingers, ferns, aroids, you name it. The bananaspecies I currently have are: Musa: basjoo, sikkimensis, itinerans, itinerans 'Gigantea', balbisiana, paradisiaca, zebrina, velutina, ornata, cheesmani, nagensium (probably also a cheesmani); Ensete: ventricosum, ventricosum 'Maurelii', glaucum and superbum; and Musella lasiocarpa. Overwintering those can sometimes be troublesome because I don't have a space under my house like some of you guys in the U.S. have... I also have a collection of ferns, I love the combination of ferns and broad-leaved plants like Musa's. To have a look at my garden click this link: http://community.webshots.com/user/griphuz |
