Newbie in an Earthship

Hi guys! I came here b/c I recently bought an off-the-grid house that has several banana trees in an attached greenhouse and I am trying to figure out what they are. As luck would have it, our biggest just started flowering

, but so far the inflorescence is way smaller than I remember them in Hawaii, where I grew up. I guess I'll just have to be patient and wait for it to develop to figure out what it is.

It seems funny: when I was a kid, we didn't have to do anything to make bananas grow well in the tropics and I really didn't pay much attention. Now they're in my house in the Rockies, it's a whole different issue!
