"Newbie"

Good morning everyone,

This is my first post. I've moved now to zone 10 and am a practicing banana "grower" or not. I've had good luck so far and I've "only" killed one mat so far, and produced one bunch from my Mahoi.

I'm interested in Banannas and have enjoyed "experimenting" with them in this
warm environment. I hope I can learn a little from this org.

Best wishes to everyone,

Caloosamusa

Welcome aboard! If you want tips from zone 14, ask away. (I forget, do you get frost in Z 10?)

Good morning Lorax!!

Rarely do we get frost in Zone 10, but when we do freeze there is not always frost, and sometimes, only a few in my lifetime we get hard freezes that kill musas all the way to the ground.

I was born in central Florida and raised there in an agricultural area of zone 9.

Yes I would like some information from zone 14, especially the Equador area.
Do you know if the Zan Marino is resistant to Black Sigatoka?

Gracias por todo and best wishes to you, y tiene un buen dias.

Not sure if Zan Marino is resistant, but it's what the farmers here are putting in after their Cavs go down to the Black Sigatoka.

That said, Sigatoka here only really affects the big commercial monocultured nanner plantations; everybody else here permacultures with papayas or coffee, which seems to discourage fungal development.

No piensa de nada! Soy feliz ser de ayuda. Ten un buen dia usted, y buena suerta con sus bananos!
