Default Newb here

Thanks for letting me in. A palm nerd for 2 decades or so. I have palms mastered.

Trying bananas now.

Hoping to learn as much as possible. I appreciate the information available in this group & have already learned a lot.

Name is Ken. A California native outside the bay area...live in 9b.

My first swing at this involve 1 blue java, & 6 musa basjoos.

Look forward to future dialogue.

Welcome to bananas.org.
A landscaper at my horse barn trimmed all my banana plants like he would palm trees, including one that was ready to flower. He only left about 4 leaves of the canopy of each plant. I was upset about it for weeks.
So having said this, do not trim banana plants like palm trees. Only yellow or brown leaves go, never anything green. All green is needed for a proper photosynthesis and to fill in banana fruits.

CB,
Do you use the horse manure on your bananas?

Sorry for the late response. Yes, straight from the horses.... stall. And they love it.

Thanks. I sincerely appreciate the advice. Without trying to sound boastful...I have the Palm/cyad game dialed in...I’ve saved specimens that were on the brink of death...trees from others yards that didn’t look remotely salvageable are thriving in my yard now...they were eager to have me remove them and now want them back lol.

I’m learning quickly that bananas are an entirely different creature. Love the challenge...and I’m thankful for such a great resource that this group is!
