Default New to the website/looking for plantains

Greetings from Vero Beach, Florida. Thank you for letting me join. I’ve recently sold my house of 24 years, and moved to a smaller property, with no landscaping. I have a long fence at the edge of my septic system, and I’m working on creating some privacy, without planting anything with a large roof system. I’m mostly focusing on bananas and papayas. I was able to take pups from two unidentified plants from my old house, and have since acquired a man wah banana. I am now desperately looking for a Hawaiian plantain, with no luck so far. Any guidance would be most appreciated.

Maria

Hi,
If you have a musa Namwah banana plant and you don’t want something that gets a large root system then you better make sure you get rid of as many pups that you don’t need. I can assure you if you let this plant take off it will have a huge corm. I am speaking from experience. This. Was my first banana plant years ago an I let it go darn near took over the yard on the side of the house.
Good luck on the plaintains. Like said above there are quite a few folks here who grow them.
Regards,
Dell
