New to site
I have been growing bananas for three years now so I'm still learning but just bought three more plants recently and I'm excited to try different varieties. I live in central Florida so we have cool nights but luckily not many freezing nights. I hope to learn from others and share my experience as well.

Re: New to site
Welcome to the banana nut club. You aren't too far from me here in Palm Bay... You may have some issues with a few cold sensitive varieties, but Namwah, SH-3640 and Brazilian do well here for me, so far.

Re: New to site
I am growing cavendish, praying hands, 1000 fingers and a dwarf plantain right now but just purchased the last three and are just putting them in the ground. I'm wondering if they can be left in pots and if so how big should the pot be?

Re: New to site
Julann.. I see you are on the island so you can grow pretty much any kind you want. No need to put them in pots.

Re: New to site
Wow you have a lot of bananas. Do you have any ice cream? That is what I'm looking for but I have 4 different varieties now and I don't have room for a lot more.

Re: New to site
Me? Do you want the real Ice cream (Blue Java) or the other Ice cream(Namwah AKA Thai )?
I have Namwah, but they both have bunches hanging so it's a bad time to take a pup. I do not have Blue Java, but many others do. If you are patient and keep asking, you will get one. More people thin their mats in the spring. I recommend asking TyTaylor but he may be busy now as he lives in Lake Texas now.

Re: New to site
I have plenty!! Let me know and I'll throw my scuba gear on, dive down and get you one!!
Seriously I have plenty of the real blue java, tall namwa, and dwarf namwa. The real blue java ice cream is the beautiful light blue bunches you see in pictures. The "fake" blue java ice cream is Musa Tall Namwa! It looks similar just not blue. You can see a bunch under my name over here to the left of the page <------- Just PM me if you need one!
