I just joined up to find out information on colder weather banana trees. I just bought 3 Musa basjoo plants. I live in zone 8 and looking for advice on winter time care. I have seen these plants around this area survive the winters outside planted in the ground. Also what type of soil do they thrive on? Any help would be great.

Welcome to the Bunch.

Basjoo in zone 8 wont need any special winter care, Bananas will grow in most any soil. But loose lomey & sandy well drained soil is probably the best. You may need a raised bed if planting on heavy clay soil for improved drainage.
