New from PA...with a banana plant/grow light question.
Good Morning all! I have a Grand Nain banana plant that I purchased 7 months ago. The plant reaches the peak of my second floor and has two pups. While it stays nice and warm it received no supplemental light and I am wondering if I should purchase some sort of grow light to supplement what the banana used to receive? When I purchased the plant last year it was obviously much smaller and was able to 'enjoy' the 1000 watt hps light that I have for my citrus plants. Also, if I did supplement with a light source I am wondering if it's the top of the plant or the bottom of the plant that needs the light. Also, the pups and plant now have brown spots...don't know if it's from shock or lack of light...I am running a humidifier so I don't think that's the issue. I posted pics to my gallery.

Re: New from PA...with a banana plant/grow light question.
Hi Sandy-
Welcome to the Banana Express. If your plant is indoors and already reaching the top of the second floor, why would you need to make it grow any taller, or am I reading that incorrectly? To post a picture, you cannot upload directly to the post. You have to either link from an offline site like Photo Bucket, or post it in your gallery on here and then show the link just like from an off site location. It's a crazy system, but that's the only way to post pics on here. Hope this helps!

My goal isn't to make the plant taller...I just don't want it to die or become unhealthy.

Re: New from PA...with a banana plant/grow light question.
Somebody correct me if I am wrong, but won't supplemental light trick the plant into thinking it's in a warmer location and continue amping up the growth?
