If I could transport the tropics here, I would. But there are many wonderful zone appropriate plants to enjoy. I would rather spend my time growing things rather than protecting them. So, that said, I do love big leaved plants, and ensetes bring the look I love. My lot is urban with those space constraints, and my soil is fill from reclaimed swamp. Lots of shell, then clay, the water at about 3 feet!

Might be a good idea to find a lot of organic material. Build your soil to retain moisture yet drain well. Find out what will grow for you and as we do get rid of what won't. Good growing and post pics.
