New Member (London, UK), Musa Balbisiana (seed), Musa Basjoo (now dead)
Hi All,
After coming across this forum so many times in my google searches, I finally decided to come to the inside. Here is a little banana intro. I live in London, UK. I used to have a banana plant as a child. Last summer I saw a little Musa Basjoo in the garden centre and bought it. It grew really well until I managed to kill it in late summer. But I was infected with the banana bug and knew I wanted more. So I ordered Musa Balbisiana seeds from jungleseeds.co.uk. I have sown them on 9th January. No growth yet but I'm still hopeful. I've read it can take some time for banana seeds to germinate. I'm also considering adding some more varieties to the collection. So, I am open to buy/trade plants or seeds. I was thinking of a smaller variety like Musa Velutina or picking up a Dwarf Cavendish if I see one. Thanks for having me!:woohoonaner: |

Thanks every body for the warm welcome. I will keep you posted on my seeds. I just installed a grow light for the seedlings (once they come out).

Update:
I want to give an update to my Bananas. Back in February I didn't have any Bananas as my Basjoo died the previous year. However, I was hoping for my Balbisiana seeds to germinate which I had sown in late January. I knew it could take a while for the seeds to germinate but I wasn't very hopefull anymore when the first seedling appeared in May. Now I have two tiny Balbisianas. I also recently picked up a small plant from a local garden centre. I believe it is some sort of Super Dwarf Cavendish. It only said Musa on the pot. It would be great to hear what you think it might be. |
