New member from the Hamptons !!!!!!!
Hello fellow banana heads!!!!
I am from the Southeastern Long Island ( Westhampton) and could use any good advice concerning Musa Basjoos varities, growing or care ? Where or from whom should i purchase (appx 12) new plants. When growers use the term offset what do they mean? Thank you in advance . Harrison Simpson Lawe III |

Re: New member from the Hamptons !!!!!!!
Howdy Harrison; welcome to the org! I have bought nanas from Stokes Tropicals, Logees and Plant Delights Nursery. All were great. Stokes sends probably the largest plants. Offsets=pups. Basjoos will produce many pups over the years; I had 3 the 1st season, 8 the 2nd. When you get your babies, post a pic of your garden. You'll love it here.

Welcome aboard, from sunny Ecuador! I've got no clue where you'd purchase Basjoos, but I can help with care and garden design if you wish...

Re: New member from the Hamptons !!!!!!!
Try Wellspring Gardens too. They ship small plants in 4 inch pots, but bananas grow so fast that you should have about 5 ft of plant the first season. Just a thought.

Re: New member from the Hamptons !!!!!!!
Hiya Harrison and welcome to the happiest bunch of 'naner people!
When growers use the term offset what do they mean? The offsets are the new growths from the mother plant. They are also often referred to as pups or suckers. |
