New Member in Denver!
Hello all!
I am a 22 year old manchild residing in Denver. I've always had a huge soft-spot for tropical plants and recently bought/fell in love with a Musa Gran Nain banana plant! I'm sure I have been annoying the heck out of my friends and family, and figure I could use a group like this to discuss my obsession :D So hello all and I hope to get to know you and your plants from here on in! :woohoonaner: |
Re: New Member in Denver!

Welcome to the site! Sounds like you'll fit in VERY well here! There are a bunch of awesome banana/plant nerds on here. Most people I run into in real life think I'm a super uber crazy plant nerd.....but when I'm here, I fit right in (and sometimes even feel less nerdy than others LOL). I'm sure you'll learn a lot from the community here....plenty of knowledgeable people. See ya in the forums!

Re: New Member in Denver!
You need to get in touch with Mark (hortdoc). He's also in Denver. Maybe you two could help each other out when building your collection, buying in bulk! :)

Re: New Member in Denver!
Welcome from NJ. Do you ever get to the Denver stock show? I bought some plumerias there over 10 years ago and you never know what you might find there.

Re: New Member in Denver!
Welcome!
I am from Colorado (Nederland, just outside Boulder in the mountains...though currently living in Hawaii) and when I was in high school I got a pretty large collection going in my house. I recommend you visit the Denver Botanic Gardens if you haven't yet. They are undergoing some major renovations so my big collection of bananas there is currently out at the Chatfield facility (it was never publicly displayed anyways), but there is still a very nice collection in the conservatory, mostly what was already planted there but a few interesting ones that I planted as well. When they are done with the new greenhouses they will bring all of the other ones back over and you can ask to see them. |

Thanks so much, I'll definitely get in contact ^_^ Bob I live and work downtown, so I definitely get a lot of business from the stock show every year. I haven't been for a few years, and I've always found something interesting every year that i have gone! Gabe15 I LOVE the Denver botanical gardens! I like to go at least once a year to the one in Denver. My mom lives in Roxborough, the area really close to the Chatfield facility. I've never been to it, and I would love to go once they have finished all of the renovations. Thank you all very much, you really are a cool community! :bananarow: |
