![]() I am the receipient of two pups, from two friends, they are very different species.
Of cource I have a lot to learn. First I would like to know if there is any chance of identifying them. Both grow tall here in St. Louis MO. One is hardy out in the open and never blooms. The other produces edible bananas out doors no green house. He said just keep the pup in the basement bare root and dry then plant in full sun in the spring. |

The chances, that you will find somebody, who will be able to identify your bananas is excellent, providing, that your enquiry does not get lost in the traffic. People mostly pay attention to the recent posts, so, if “Mr. or Ms. Knowledge” does not catch your enquiry the first time, you may have to post it again.

The nanner which is hardy here is Musa Basjoo (There are a couple more) it will bloom if protected, or dug up for the winter. Here is a link to the wiki with tons of info on a lot of banana varieties. Musa Basjoo - Bananas Wiki

![]() Welcome to the org, George, from the beautiful state of Maryland.Perhaps if you post a pic of the pups an answer will be more definitive. If it's hardy where you are, as Corbin says, it should be basjoo.
