Yeah, growing traveler's tree outside is a no-go for me as well. I am in zone 6 now but I'm from Iowa, which is zone 5 or lower. Hopefully I'll have tall ceilings in my house in a few years LOL.

Me neither, I'm seriously thinking about going away from Europe. Not only because of the climate though.

Here are some pics of what I'm trying here. I've made a germination box, it's heated with x-mas lights and a heating pad. When the sun is out, I switch it off, because it easily reaches 40C (104F) inside. I'm propagating some palms in there, and nanas as well.

And here are some nanas - SDC's, as it's hard to get some others here. Separated them from two mother plants.

Very nice idea. If you don't want to bother with manual switches, you could use a small photodiode, control circuit, some 1€ processor and a little bit of programming and when the sun comes out, the inner heating system will switch off automatically. One more advice. I noticed, that if you lower the temps during the night (or circa 12 hours) to maybe 25°C and then raise the temperature back during the day, the seeds will germinate much more easily, it's like simulating day/night conditions.

Do you study on some sort of technical university?

Thanks! Actually, I studied law, but I really want to improve my knowledge in technical field.
I thought about installing a thermostat in there that will switch off the pad and the lights when the temp is above 35C, but your photodiode idea is sweet!
As for temperature fluctuations - I take seeds like Ravenala and Butia to a cooler place in the night, because they are said to respond well to a temperature changes. But ensete, areca and wodyetia seeds stay in
the propagator all the time - guess, they don't need fluctuations. Correct me if I'm wrong
