Default New here and to growing bananas

Just joined up after a friend of mine gave me some banana trees last year . They did pretty well but not sure if I wintered them the correct way or not. I hope they kick into high gear here soon and take off
Been trying to do as much reading as I can on here. I live in the Northwest part of Ohio not too far from the Michigan border.
Want to add I got interested in growing some after visiting my Father In Law and Mother In Law who live on the slopes of Kilimanjaro In Tanzania. He grows bananas/coffee/tea etc
attached is one of the trees I grew last year didn't do too bad ( sorry there is a Jeep in the photo)

Welcome! You might have a hardy species of banana, which means the luck is that it will survive your winters pretty well, - Much better than edible bananas! Downside is, it takes years to flower and the fruit are heavily seeded, most don't eat them. They are technically edible though.

Best of luck anyway, and watch out, before you know it you'll start hoarding bananas noone other than us banana-addicts could think would grow out there. Including dozens of edible varieties far tastier than storebought fruits.
