Brod, those plants appear identical to the pics I sent you. I was told they were Chinese dwarf plantains. Someone might be able to clear it up for me once and for all?

Looks like a very dwarf cavendish to me. Very dwarf! Almost like my Musa Novak only about a foot taller. Some form of cavendish for sure.

Cavendish is called Chinese Dwarf in some places. What’s the history of the plants? Where did they come from? Very healthy looking plants! Congrats

I think the one flowering is a namwah and the others are cavendesh and the small one is a "ice cream". We will see what the ice cream turns out to be.

I was referring to the flower pictured. It’s for sure not namwa. Unfortually a lot of Musa plants end up being not what you buy or want! Very sad and as a collector it really gets under my skin. Sometimes intentional but most times not. By mixing up 1 tag and selling that plant, then over the years it’s resold or traded or given away to say 100 people. Then those 100 do the same…… You can see how it becomes a big issue!

Hopefully others will chime in and confirm cavendish, namwa, or something else. My namwa are much taller. 17’+ for talls and 10’+ for dwarf. On yours the flowers are yellow, fingers long, peduncle is short hairy and has purple, and pedicles are wide open. All that plus more to me screams Dwarf Cavendish. The picture to the left by my name is a namwa bunch. Just trying to help!

Cool, I didnt have a tag on this one and didnt know. One I know was labeled "ice cream". The rest are mystery.

This particular plant has 3 shoots. The 2nd shoot is now forming a flower.

Should I thin the fruit set?

Dwarf cavendish! I agree with Hector and still believe it’s a dwarf cavendish.

They look very healthy and that’s a good size bunch. I wouldn’t do anything different! Your doing an awesome job already! I wouldn’t have more than 3 pups on a mat though. Just remove the rest and and replant them in their own area. If you don’t want thrm just sell them or give them away. Every extra pup left on the mat really slows the others down!

Thanks for the info, I appreciate it. The bananas do well here, the only issue is its really hot and dry and we are up on a hill and its very windy. When its 110F outside and 30mph wind it really screws them up. I am going to try planting more down lower in a more protected area on my property. These were the first ones I tried growing so its all still experimental.
