New to Growing Bananas

Hi all,

I've been lurking here for a while, kind of digging through the archives getting some basic questions answered and such. This is a really awesome forum and I've learned a good bit already.

I purchased one dwarf banana (gran nain) and was accidentally sent two. I thought I was going to lose them both because they were so tangled together, their stalks were flush against each other and I thought it was one plant. I managed to separate them and get them into their own separate pots without killing them both (yay!) and they have tripled in size since the first week of June. It's just amazing!

I grew up on a farm in Louisiana, but I now live in Tennessee where I'm starting my own little orchard of dwarf trees in pots until my husband and I decide on a piece of property here.

I'm looking forward to learning from you all!

Uh oh.....sounds like they are starting you down the road to banana addiction! I'll warn you...growing naners is highly addictive (some have likened it to the addictive nature of crack cocaine! LOL...not really, but it is addictive!). The move I learn about them, the more plants I want though. You might feel the same soon enough! (and I warn you of naner addiction!)

I hope you enjoy the site! This place is a great place to learn, share ideas and get questions answered. The people are amazing, so don't be shy! Hope to see you in the forums!

Welcome aboard, Garden Green :) ! Always best to :lurk: first & get bearings. I see we're in the same zone & it was a Gran Nain that got me started, too. Am now growing mine in full sunlight, outdoors. Been doing great, like that, for 3 weeks now with no leaf burn :) !!
(I Luv experimenting).
The forum is packed with great info & I've found it not only friendly & helpful, but a little addictive; I now have a dozen or more banana species with full info on all :) !!
Hope you have a great time, here. If you have any questions, just ask away :).
