New to forum: Abunch of Beach Bananas
Good morning fellow bananas! I’m Abunch (Adrina) and obsessed with bananas. After stumbling across this forum and reading a few posts quickly saw that I’m in good company. This is a rather new obsession for me that began after moving back to Myrtle Beach (zone 8) and wanting to landscape with a tropical feel. Last year I had a total of 70-80 banana plants of just a couple of varieties. This year I hope to expand my knowledge of growing bananas and adding several varieties.

Re: New to forum: Abunch of Beach Bananas
Welcome Abunch. I'm pretty new to this forum also and everyone on here is extremely nice and helpful. I've became more obsessed with bananas since I joined this group but I still havent quite reached banana nerd status yet. I'm still working on it. Again welcome.

Welcome, Abunch! You'll fit right in here.
Which varieties were you growing? And were you affected by the fire? |

Re: New to forum: Abunch of Beach Bananas
The Myrtle Beach fire has been pretty scary but I live close to the beach so my house (and community) was never in any danger although the fire came within a mile from my community. Nearly 200 houses were severely damaged or destroyed by the fire and I hate this has hurt so many "neighbors".
The majority of the banana plants I have I don't know what type they are (had 10 or so here when I bought the house)...last year this became about 70. Hope to determine the type thanks to this forum. Additionally, I have 4 Musa Ice Cream (Blue Java) and 5 Sabas. Plus 3 Rowe Red (but not sure yet if these survived the winter). |

Re: New to forum: Abunch of Beach Bananas
Welcome Abunch, when you get comfortable post some pics of your bananas and hopefully someone will figure out what they are. I'm betting on Orinoco but you never know.

Re: New to forum: Abunch of Beach Bananas
Welcome, Abunch! It sounds like you've been growing abunch of bananas already. What ones are you growing? Which ones have you given up on? Which ones are you thinking of adding (besides Ae Ae, lol)?
Best wishes, Harvey |
