New England Finally Warming Up!!!
Hello everyone, this is my first post, as well as my first year trying to get my basjoo though the winter. I'm not sure that it made it yet there is no sign of life. The local nursery told me to hold on a few more weeks. The winter here wasen't that bad so I'm hoping it's OK (6F) low. The plant was about 12 feet :2733:with 5 or so suckers and very happy before frost in November. It would really be tuff if I can make a T. fortunei survive with minimal protection, and have the hardy banana die. Should I be worried about no growth by this time?
Regardless I will not give up, I have big plans for this year. If anyone out there has any suggestions for plantings I would love to hear them. I'm willing to protect to the max, and bring everything else into a large basement. My favorite banana is the red abyssinian And really want a couple this year. How big will a 4" pot grow here? Should I look for bigger? True plant nut, Thanks everyone Bill |
