New to Banana growing.
Hi All.
I'm new to this site and new to trying to grow bananas. I've just planted a small Goldfinger Banana plant. I read somewhere that after the first harvest, the banana tree dies. Is that true? I was hoping that one tree would produce for several years. I hear that they have pups, but thought I'd keep them trimmed off, that is unless that's how I can keep having bananas growing. Any advice is welcome. Thank you! SciFiLady

Re: New to Banana growing.
Basically that is true. The pups are your future banana plant and fruit. Keep two of the bigger pups. Trim off the others replant else where or give to friends.
Where are you located? Bananas need a long warm growing season, thus become increasingly difficult to grow and fruit north of zones 9/10. |

Re: New to Banana growing.
Hi SciFiLady-
Welcome aboard the Banana Express. There are a lot of San Diegans (county) on here, as well as some formers. Interesting name; do you watch, read or write?

Thanks. Sorry for a late reply. I'm not on this site Very often. I enjoy watching Sci-fi. Read a little too. Wish I could write it...
