Didn't think of that one, as I'm more familiar with it as byrd.

I actually did consider asking if bird was related to gender. I'm thrilled to welcome another member of the XY persuasion. Post often!

Gosh, I hope what I said didn't run you off. We have few women who stick around here to post often and I'm not sure why. Though the active membership seems to be mostly male, as a an old bat of the female persuasion I've always felt very welcomed; I consider the "boys" to be some of the neatest guys I've met IRL or on the Net. Please stay, Jes, and tell us about your farm. (BTW, good call on the roos--this many time flogged gal is not convinced of their value to a flock of layers.)

Huh? I went to college in NC--Asheville which is in the west, comprised of mountains where you can ski and is in the United States of America. Both NC and SC are a bit strange in that they have mountainous areas (not so much SC), a Piedmont (or "flat lands" where Charlotte is located) and beaches on the Atlantic Ocean. I haven't a clue about current time in the UK. Perhaps someone from there will chime in?

Depends where in the UK you are. The Prime meridian, or Greenwich Mean Time (GMT), splits it somewhat in half.
