Hey Guys!

I need help!

I got this banana plant a few weeks back and it seems to be dying.

When I got it is had 8+ leaves and was in a small pot.

According to something I read, I needed to repot it in order to have it grow.

I repotted it immediately in a pat with moisture control miracle fertilizer.

I cut holes in the bottom of the pot so that it could drain. I had it first near a whind in my bed room with medium light and leaves started to die. I moved it to the kitchen where there is less ligtht and leaves still died.

I thought it might be a humiditing issue so I put a humidifier right beside it..

This was yesterdat and now leaves are visiably worse off.

What am I doing wrong?

I leave it till the frindges of the soil are dry before watering.

I dont want it to die.

Please help me save it!

I have a mekong giant that done the same I cut all the leaves off and it regenerated now with 4 leaves I think it's shock hope this will help

As to your question, when you transplanted the plant, you should not fertilize it with regular fertilizer. A transplanting solution will be fine, since it will have Vitamin B and hormones conducive to growth. Vitamin B reduces stress to the plant due to the transplanting. Using regular fertilizer during transplanting, if more than 15% of the recommended amount(strength) stated on the label, will burn the plant, which is what I think is happening with your plant. What I would do at this point is wait until the next watering period and re-pot the plant with fresh moist potting media and do not water nor fertilize at this time. When the top 1" of the media (soil) has dried out, then you can just water again. Most potting media/soil have sufficient fertilizer to carry the plant of about a month. After the second watering, then you can start applying fertilizer again at half-strength at the interval recommended by the manufacturer. Do this for at least a month before going the full strength recommendation. If your plant is not in a warm and sunny location during the late Fall to early Spring months, lighten up on the watering, and fertilizing no more than once a month. But do not let the soil get completely dry out before watering. Your plant will choke and tend to re-pup itself. Check when the top 1" of the soil is dry and water adequately.

It would help people help you if they knew where you live; here in FL I have some bananas in pots but only for convenience and not because they must spend winter inside. And perhaps it's not winter for you just now. If you edit your profile to reflect your growing situation (city) and zone (if applicable), that means you don't have to tell people every time you post a question about your plant/plants (because you can't have just one).

Hey!

I seem to have broke my banana leaves off while trying to test the soil...

I think the issue was that there was not enough water in the pot...


I want to know now where I can get a new banana rhysome?

Does anyone know?

In the first photo, is that a spider plant with the banana? Looks like the spider plant has died or dying from too much water.

I have no idea on your location but time outdoors is always great. I just moved my bananas in side here in Ohio and they are mostly in east windows and leaves are going yellow already. I only have to get them to survive the winter before they go back out in the spring.

If you lose your nanner, come by my house and I will give you one or two.

When I transplant mine, I always soak in rooting compound solution and plant directly without anything else. It helps get the pant going with new roots. Once it is established, THEN i add a light fertilization of MiracleGro.
