Default Mr. Tom Bell

Hi,
I live in Brisbane ,Australia and have planted 4 bannana trees in my yard.I am inexperienced in growing banannas and would gladly any advice i can get.Firs i have them planted where they get full sun . I prepared the soil that they are planted in by adding a mixture of Gypsum,Blood and bone,Potash, Sheep manure, and a fertilizer called Dynamic Lifter which is derived from poultry manure.I watered that mixture well and let it fallow for 1 month.I planted trees yesterday and now i would like to know what i should do from now on to get good results.
How many days a week should i water plants ?
How often should i fertilize ,what with, and how much per tree?
Should i mulch and with what?
Should trees be sprayed ,with what and how often?
Yours Faithfully TOM BELL

Hello & Welcome from the Sportsman's Paradise :^)

Sounds like you have a pretty good plan up to this point. :^) I have no idea how warm it is there but if it's warm I'd water them when ever they get dry. You can put mulch around them but don't run any up on the P-stem. Then you don't have to worry about lower P-stem rotting due to wet stuff sitting on it, this goes for dirt & poo too. :^) Good Luck

Welcome to the site! I'm sure you'll find plenty of great info here. I recommend watering your plants when they dry out....well-draining soil is recommended and fertilize about once per few weeks.

Welcome from Ecuador!

You and I have similar climates, actually. I normally water when my soil is dry (bidaily but I'm windier than you are), fertilize once a month with a mixture of aged manure and volcanic ash, and I don't normally spray unless there is sign of some kind of infection. In the heat, it's actually a bad idea to wet the leaves - you get faster sunburn that way.

G'day UPTOWNTOMMY and welcome to Bananas dot org from Florida!

If I remember my soil charts correctly Aussie soils are poor in minor elements. Make sure any fertilizer you use has minor and trace elements added.

Welcome once again to Bananas dot org!
