Hi Banana People,
I am happy to join your forum. I have been growing red bananas for a couple of years and want to branch out. I live in zone 5 so bananas take some extra work, however, they are well worth it. I just bought some red tiger seeds to try to germinate and also, think I'll buy an ice cream banana to try. I live on the edge of the high desert where temps are sometimes extreme. Summers are often above 100 and winters 20-40 most of the time. Right now it's 25 and some skiffs of snow on the ground. I hope to draw from people's expertise in the banana area so that I can be a better grower. I'm retired and want to make this one of my hobbies. I used to teach first grade, am currently a volunteer on an all-volunteer ambulance crew. I love computers, digital cameras, taking photos, cats, most animals, tropical anything, champagne. I look forward to reading postings and hearing from people all over the country. zinniasjm ![]() |

Welcome!
You have the life I want to have when I become retired! "Anything tropical" and "Champagne" sounds great to me. I think this is the right place, there is alot of knowledge and competence sitting on this board. When I first joined here, I was struck by how polite and easy to talk to the members here are. So this has become my little "Island escape" in a very hectic work-life these days! Erlend

Thank you for your greetings. What a nice welcome. I hope to learn a lot about how to grow bananas and make new friends at the same time!
