Hi,
my name is Nico and i work as a programmer near Ghent, Belgium.
Some colleagues and I are growing banana plants in our offices.
The temperature is quite constant, day and night, which is better than home, where we economize on heating during working hours and nighttime.
I'm a total newbee on this, all i know is what i read on the internet.
Afaik i have a dwarf cavendish, and a faster/larger growing one. Both develop the maroon 'blood' stains, because of the direct sunlight they get, so there's a chance the big one is a cavendish relative.
I would like to avoid chemicals, so i have a lot of questions about how and what and how many i have to feed them.

welcome..i myself try not to chemicalize my plants and use natural whenever possible ..a lot of grass clippings,composted and not..older banana plants chopped up and mixed into the soil..any trash from other plants, banana leaves and peels..older vegetation, saw dust from my chainsaw,charcoal from the bbq..some ash from bbq but not to much..but I do use a little packaged fert. mixed in..a few pics when you can

Thank you for your reply.
I used commercial potting soil which contains nutrients for a few weeks.
How do you administer the things you mention? Do you just throw it on top, or you make a tea out of it? Does one need worms to mix it in?

I use dry cow dung as fertilizer. They are good enough for bananas.
