![]() Hi all. I'm Baladev from the Philippines. Bananas are abundant here so I have no problem of having bananas anytime of the day because banana is always here and there. My mother said to me that while she was conceiving me, she used to eat a lot of bananas, maybe that's why I also inherited the fondness and love of eating bananas. The more bananas the better! I could consume a kilo of banana in one meal! Many variety of bananas are existing here in our country, and I'll name them from my most favorite to the least:
1. Lakatan - It's so sweet, the flesh is almost orange or somewhat red-yellow in color and the texture is not sticky but somewhat coarse yet soft, the shape is like an ordinary banana. 2. Bungolan - The color is green and the flesh is light yellow, the taste is also sweet but with a slight touch of sourness. The shape is also the same. 3. Senyorita or Seņorita - This is tiny banana, a size of only an adult's middle finger, but the shape or diameter is proportioned. The color is yellow with a slight green in both ends before the black ends. The taste is very delicious! It's not the typical banana taste. The texture is also coarse and is similiar to Lakatan's taste but this Senyorita has its different taste that I can't describe! Being small, this variety is addictive! 4. Saba - Commonly, this type of banana is well-known for cooking. Filipinos love it in sweetened, deep-fried and cued on a bamboo stick with brown sugars sticking on the sides, "saging kon yelo" (same with sweetened but cold - with grated ice, condensed milk and optionally with sago or gelatin), banana chips (unripe banana then cut thinly into chips then sundried, then fried - I guess they also put sugar into it). P.S.: The shape is short but bulky, and the color is not nice. It looks dirty and near to rot or wither but it's normal. 6. Latundan or Latondan - This is the most abundant species in our country, and it's also cheaper than Lakatan. The taste is less sweet, very slightly sour and the flesh is somewhat sticky. I'm not much fond of this type, but since it is a banana, I still love it! 7. Butoan or Butuan - This is the least my favorite. Though, I didn't see much of this type in the market because this specie is wild. Thanks it is wild. It has many seeds and the size is exactly a whole black pepper (but not the taste)! You want to spit often to get rid of those plenty seeds in its flesh. The taste is also not much sweet but not sour too. I tastes like a starch with less sugar. Phew. How long was I've written! I guess many people will not even attempt to read this, hehe. I know there are many else variety existing the I did not listed. By the way, if you have any more questions or comments or messages for me, feel free to do so! Happy Banana Lovers everyone! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

![]() Welcome to the forum. That was not too long, we love that type of information on the forums! That first one sounded delicious. Alas here in the states we don't get the choice of that many bananas in the store, we are forced to grow our own. It's good to have you here. If you LOVE BANANAS, and growing them, this is the place for you.

![]() Welcome Baladev.
Are you growing Senorita may I asked? I got the news from a friend of mine that it is the fastest to bloom banana that he used to own. Something like in 8 months you can harvest the fruit from pup to harvest time. Or is there any nursery close by your home that sell bananas of that kind? Please let me know it is very important to me. And I want to let you know ahead of time I will not ask you to send me one but I will get it in person.
