Thank you, Im west of Denver 5b... though the heat is different here - not humid and rarely over 105f but being this close to the sun turns full sun plants into "holy crap thats hot I need 18 times more water than you think" and "wow, the actual safe growing season really is less than 5 months thanks to the late frost, crazy hail and early frost".
Im thick headed and Im growing bananas. Period. : ) even if they are pot bound for life and I have to cut holes in the roof. |

Maybe Veinte Cohol in a huge pot? They hate the cold, but they are a fast maturing banana. Check in to them.

Welcome!
There's several options for bananas, some dwarf that are easier to move in during winter, some that you can simply let die after they fruit for the year (Veinte Cohol for example) and some really small enough to grow indoors (Rajapuri, Dwarf Cavendish, Velutina) By the way, I always get excited to see more cold-climate people getting into growing food especially tropical food, so extra welcome from me. I also live in a fairly cold (but not super cold) climate with very cool summers yet I grow everything I can, or can afford to buy, haha! It takes time to get the garden of one's dreams. |
