Default Howdy

Been lurking for a while...
North Miami Florida resident, grew up in South Miami in the 60's. Family had our entire driveway lined with different bananas (so I'm somewhat familiar with banana growing).

Anyway, decided I needed some plants for my home. Went to reputable nursury in Broward and bought a nice little 3 foot "Icecream" banana plant. Well it's been 19 months, it has grown to about 10 -12 feet tall with 2 additional shoots that are taller than the original, plus 2 or more suckers. BUT, no flowering or fruit yet. Seems like it has been too long? What gives?

Any suggestions are welcome!

Sounds like it's the right height where it should be flowering soon. Things move a little slower in winter so a little more patience should pay off soon. Good luck and welcome!

Thanks for all the welcomes guys and gals..
So correct me if I'm wrong. ALL banana plants eventually will flower and fruit. A neighbor (old timer) told me I might have a male plant.

I can't stand on my head and take a photo at the same time and I refuse to let my son take a photo of me in such a position. He might try to use it to embarrass me and I already do a good enough job of that myself.

I don't think anybody has every got a Namwah Pearl to fruit (much less live for very long). :P
