Howdy
Been lurking for a while...
North Miami Florida resident, grew up in South Miami in the 60's. Family had our entire driveway lined with different bananas (so I'm somewhat familiar with banana growing). Anyway, decided I needed some plants for my home. Went to reputable nursury in Broward and bought a nice little 3 foot "Icecream" banana plant. Well it's been 19 months, it has grown to about 10 -12 feet tall with 2 additional shoots that are taller than the original, plus 2 or more suckers. BUT, no flowering or fruit yet. Seems like it has been too long? What gives? Any suggestions are welcome! |

Sounds like it's the right height where it should be flowering soon. Things move a little slower in winter so a little more patience should pay off soon. Good luck and welcome!

So correct me if I'm wrong. ALL banana plants eventually will flower and fruit. A neighbor (old timer) told me I might have a male plant.  |

I can't stand on my head and take a photo at the same time and I refuse to let my son take a photo of me in such a position. He might try to use it to embarrass me and I already do a good enough job of that myself.
I don't think anybody has every got a Namwah Pearl to fruit (much less live for very long). :P
