Default hi there

hi-couldnt sleep-have been looking at plant sites all night and i came across this site-looks like a great site filled with passionate plantspeople so i decided to join. my name is David. I am 34 living in Rhode Island. I have a small greenhouse (an old shed i insulated and put a clear roof on). I cant really afford to heat it but i do because i love my tropical plants and i was running out of room in the house. I just cant get enough of them. by the way all the dancing banana cartoons are hysterical. have a good one-David

David,

Welcome to this forum. I grew up in CT and since you mentioned that you love tropical plants, I have some suggestions for you suitable for your area. If you're in coastal RI, you could try growing some hardy grapefruit outdoors, or if your inland they'd do fine in your unheated greenhouse. Here's a link http://www.logees.com/prodinfo.asp?number=C2024-2

Also phyllostachys bamboo, musa basjoo bananas, needle palms, and possibly a windmill palm would also do well. Windmill palms should do fine if your on the coast.
