Hi From Atlanta!

Hi everyone! Looking for more information on hardy bananas for the Atlanta area. At my old house, I had banana plants growing everywhere, and I seem to recall this site (talking back 2007 or so). I remember reading about piling up mulch for winter and they'd pop back up... had tremendous success with those plants at that house.

I moved three years ago a few miles away, and brought a couple pups with me. They unfortunately died after the first winter and I haven't had any bananas since. Looking for more info on the right varieties to grow around here that will last our winters and make our new pool look super tropical tiki mode!

Thanks! I seem to recall they were indeed basjoo, but just didn't make it in my new yard. I also had some red bananas that I had to dig up and bring inside - can't recall what those were but I haven't seen those around anymore. Any ideas there?

Any Atlanta-area folks with suggestions where to make sure I'm getting basjoo?
