Drummer Hi

I am new to growing bananas and stumbled across this forum. What an awesome place to learn. I now have 6 pups that are growing in my yard. 2 are in the ground and the rest in pots. I hope my dirt which is horrible will be okay for them. I miked in wood chips and potting soil to help them grow. Soon I will start adding fertilizer. Thanks for the warm welcome here.

Default Re: Hi

Welcome to bananas.org.

I agree: this is a great forum to learn about banana plants and such.
Hope your plants will grow and fruit fast for you.
There are very few of us with ideal soil, so supplementing is the key. You can never have enough compost.
Fertilizer: everyone has his or her own little secrets, but one fertilizer I use is "Fruit Fuel 16-8-24" from plantsthatproduce.com

Welcome aboard. Stall-Dri is a great product to mix in with the soil. It's powdered pumice and can be found at most stores that sell farm or horse supplies. I mix in about 10% to the soil I'm amending. I want to give credit to the member who mentioned it on here first, but I've forgotten his moniker.
