Hello from Yukon, Canada
Hi folks,
We're currently in Whitehorse, Yukon and are moving back south to Vancouver Island next month.. just in time for gardening season! After being land locked up here for 10 years in the dry and frozen north, I am more than looking forward to getting my hands dirty and growing new gills! It's Zone 2b (Canadian) here.. we'll be moving to a 7b (8a US).. yay! Will be planting a tropical garden.. and what's a tropical garden without bananas?! If anyone can offer advice on a good newbie banana.. something that produces fruit preferred, I'd totally appreciate it! Cheers!

Yes.. a big welcomed change of zones. I miss being able to grow stuff.. we're severely limited in what we can grow here.

Sofa king cool we're going back!
I recommend visiting the Yukon if you get the chance.. only visiting! haha Too cold.. too expensive to live here but really good money to be made. Only reason 90% of the ppl are here.

Re: Hello from Yukon, Canada
Dont worry too much about which varieties you SHOULD grow and just pick the ones that you find interesting as you will be able to grow any of them in your new zone! A very easy, edible, attractive one to start with is Dwarf Cavendish. There are way too many good eatin nanners to grow!

Re: Hello from Yukon, Canada
Thanks varig8.. there are so many species! I like ones with big leaves, variegated and ones with purple hues.
I just got a copy of Realtime Landscape Architect and am virtually designing the back yard.. lol.
