Hello from the UK
Hi all,
I have enjoyed quietly reading the forum for a while, most of my questions have already been asked but thanks to everyone who responded to those past threads and compiled the information. I grew my first banana plant to give as a gift to my PhD supervisor (a M. velutina) as a sort of joke after we worked on research together looking at ritual uses of plants in ancient Ghana. He was delighted when it flowered in its first year (he has a heated conservatory). I've since grown various Musa and Ensete species in my apartment, and now I have the nice problem of how to fit our family in around the plants, I've even sold a few. The germination method of watering it and shoving it in the airing cupboard seems to usually work for me, but after I had less luck with some of the variegated species I'm interested to pick up some tips, so nice to meet you all. What it seems I actually have: Brazilian, Cavendish, Namwah, Dwarf Red, Gros Michel, Pisang Ceylon, Veinte Cohol and SH 3640, and American Goldfinger. FHIA 1, Paggi and FHIA 17... Always room for one more. |
