Hello from South Australia
hi members,
I 'stole' a pup from a neighbour's banana plant 3 years ago and it has taken until now for it to fruit. This is where the disease began . . . . The first flower finally opened a couple of days ago In anticipation of this event I have just ordered and received two banana plants from far north Queensland a bluggoe (plantain) and a lady finger Luckily I have both chickens and horses so we should never run dry of organics to feed the beasts. I look forward to learning from this forum and meeting some like-minded people |

Re: Hello from South Australia
Welcome Sam, glad to have you on board. Good you have plenty of manure as they are hungry beasts and thirsty as well. Being from SA you may have to supplement their water. Bluggoe and Ladyfinger are hardy so should do well for you.
All the best |

Re: Hello from South Australia
Hi guys,
Thanks for the welcomes Since I bought the new ones (Blogoe and lady finger) and did a bit more reading I have been fertilising the existing palm and it has gone crazy. Poor thing, it must have been starving it!!! In regards to supplemental water, ABSOLUTELY in Adelaide!!! We are currently experiencing a mini heatwave with humid tropical weather (yuck, yuck and more yuck) and the naaaaaannnnies are luvin' it, they are starting to fill out and some of my larger pups look like they too might put out a flower soon. It's amazing what a bit of fertiliser can do Thanks again for the nice welcome |
