Default Hello! from new member from Malaysia

Hi everyone!...Good to know forums like this exist for banana enthusiasts around the world...Just a brief intro of myself...I'm a research student currently doing research on banana inflorescence...As far as see most people here are more to ornamental varieties of banana plants rather than the cultivated ones...well, nice meeting everyone...hopefully we can have a good discussion on bananas and perhaps I can meet experts who can help me with identification and clarification of cultivated banana varieties..

Well hello there. I've been waiting for a Malaysian for quite some time, since our friend Tog passed away. There's one thing I would need to translate from Malay language to English. It's about an A4 page long (big letters) and I just so happen to miss the meaning of the most important part eeach time I read it. I tried the Google translator, yet precisely the part I'm interested in is tough cake even for Google. It doesn't know the meaning of several words AND gives crappy translation with no meaning at all.
Please, would you be willing to help me? PM's always welcomed.
Btw. Welcome to the org!

Welcome aboard, Birdie ! You'll find this a very friendly & helpful site; I did. And forget ornamentals - there are lots of us who wouldn't touch a banana that wouldn't lead to a banana split ! Very happy to see your into the inflorescence . I've done quite a bit of study on the structure, genetics, & chemistry of banana flowers. Will Definitely look foreward to your posts in the threads!

Actually, the vast majority here are interested in fruiting varieties!

Welcome. I am from the Philippines.

I read that there is a banana cultivar in Sarawak, Malaysia that bear 18-inch fruit. Have you tasted it? How's the taste? What is the name of that cultivar?

Again, welcome... enjoy...

When it comes to banana I am just an amateur-amateur. I am expert only in eating banana. But when I surf the net about some technical side of banana, I found something about your research. It is in Catalogues of Musa Germplasm There are about 5 catalogues in downloadable pdf files.

Hope this will help.
