Hello From NC
Greetings. I am just a novice at growing bananas. My experience is limited to Dwarf Lady Fingers (Logee's, purchased twice). I killed one immediately and Logee's replaced it. The other just kicked the bucket (after growing it for 2 years), but that's for another post. I just purchased a Super Dwarf Cadavish to see if I have better luck with it than I had with the Lady Finger.
Now that I am living in the South, I just may give growing bananas outside a go. It sounds like it would be a fun addition to my little garden. I can see from this site that growing bananas can be addictive! |

Re: Hello From NC
Welcome!
I'm thinking edible bananas in-ground may still be a challenge in NC. I'm living in a 9B climate and haven't got fruit from my dwarf Orinico yet. And it's been in the ground for 2 years! Good luck, you never know.

Re: Hello From NC
Hi Belle-
Not too far away from you, in University City. I am doing well with Musa basjoo here. Plantains are doing awesome! If you want a true banana, a hothouse will do the trick. By the way, welcome aboard the Banana Express!
