Smile Hello fellow bananas!

Hi there! I am Eric, at early 20s and a new member of this forum which i find quite informative and enjoyable indeed. Well, i like tropical plants and trees and banana is the one of them. I like its plant, i like its fruit and flower. However, i am a bit new to this beautiful plant so i do not really know much about how to care of it. I do not own one of them for now since i have got to get more information about it and decide what kind of thing i want. But i know that my options are going to be a bit limited beacuse of my location and the fact that i will be looking after it in a container. In fact, It's best to have them in outdoors; however, my house won't allow me to do that. I think, yet they are really gorgeous plants in the pot, especially Musa Valutina which is my favorite one so far. I do not know, there are a lot of different species and all of them are fabulous in their own way. Anyway, Thanks for taking time of yours to read this! Have bananaful days!

I think it's going to be M. Velutina for the first try. It is small, relatively easy and beautiful. Actually i am getting ready to purchase my first seeds. Thank you so much!

Can you take fruits from them? And is the sunlight inside suffice for plant to survive ? They seem to be very nice species. Thanks for response!

Yes it does produce edible fruit. I have daylight CFL bulbs to supplement the sunlight. I have fruit orange trees and strawberries indoors and firmly believe I will get banana to fruit indoors.

I see... So just wondering, is there anyone here who used these aquarium fluorescents on bananas? I think it might be good and could increase photosynthesis level. And maybe some IR sources to warm leaves up.

Dear Eric,
Welcome to bananas world! I myself know little about banana even though I have been eating banana all my life and grow some of them myself. Nice to be in this org. cause we have some gurus to answer questions and they are here to encourage and admire you when you are successful with your plants.

Thank you so much for this warm welcome! And nice to be in this org. where there are a lot of gracious people. Well, I always wanted to grow banana plants, but since it was a tropical plant, never could believe to raise one… until recently. It seems to be a bit difficult even now; however, when you try and success eventually, its bliss is unprecedented!
