Hello fellow banana enthusiasts. I am an avid gardener and have a special love of bananas. I don't know why but there is just something about the plant and the fruit that is special to me.
I have been experimenting with growing bananas since 2002. My main interest is the development of techniques for banana fruit production in East TN. I look forward to sharing ideas and information with the members of this group. |

Welcome Bananoloco,
Good to see another TN banana fanatic!!! I am in SE TN and there are several members within just a short drive from you. I think one of your biggest allies will be a member, BigDog, who also lives in Knoxville. When you have an opportunity, it would be nice to know what you currently are growing in your garden/yard. Look forward to sharing info with you in the future. Look around and check this place out. I promise you will NOT find a more sharing and informative group of folks anywhere. They are TOPS in my book!!! WELCOME!!! |

I meet an awful lot of banana growers from the state of Tennessee at the Charleston Farmer's Market. From Memphis to the East, I am sure I have met growers all across TN. One lady told of her father growing them 40-50 years ago and "putting them up" under the house in the winter. Quite a bit of banana history there.

Hi! Guess I'm right down the road from you. Where in Knoxville are you? I'm off of Western Ave., west of I-640. Do you have any cold-hardy species? I've been concentrating more on that recently than getting fruit, although that is still a priority as well. That's pretty cool about the Mysore doing so well for you! I'm just now starting to try that one.
