Hi I live in Austin Texas and am becoming an addict of the bananna trees I cant seem to find an great sources in austin all the ones I have seen look horrible at the box stores. Any good recommendation?

I did buy my first one today at a little place not sure of the species red leaf with lots of pups

As that I live in Mexico and our box stores don't bother with plants at all..a small question...

Isn't a pup of some known variety the same as a start from a friend...just that, a clean start which will produce eventually...might not look very good, but if you have no other source...buy it and nurse it back, in it's future generations...a crummy pup may be the source for some great grandchildren...

Yes pups produce true from the mother plant .. They can be ugly but with care and water they grow to produce fruit as the mother plant did.

I had a root ball from my friends plant . I planted it in my back yard in 3 weeks I had a banana plant growing
