Hello gang , I have been growing various potted banana plants for many years , and never had any problems until now. I had purchased two small Cavendish Banana plants back in June , each about two feet high and both very healthy. One was repotted using Coast Of Maine potting soil that is made with of lots of compost. I added more perlite to the soil before repotting. The pot has proper drainage holes. The other banana is still in it`s original pot. Within a three week period all the leaves on both plants became quite pale. Both are growing strong with good leaf development , but I have not been able to get them to green up again. What happened ?

Welcome to the Jungle.....

The roots might need some tme to sort themselves out especially if they were disturbed in the repot.

Thank you . I am very sure the roots did not get disturbed. Also, one of those two banana plants did not get repotted , however both have gotten pale in color. I have grown bananas in pots for many years and never had this problem. I really need to find a way to get these plants to green up properly.

Sounds like they may be low on nitrogen. Try some blood meal, or for a quicker response, pee into a fast food sized drink cup mid-morning, as these are not as tough as redwoods, and fill the rest of the way with water. Pour half on each one. I go full strength in the morning for the dawn redwoods and they love it. Should work on bananas though, as they are nothing but greens and need a lot of nitrogen.
