Im new here, and although i have no banana plants yet, i do have a collection of garden plants.

Edit your profile so we know where you're located. I can pretty much promise that nobody will show up in your driveway as long as you don't add your full address.

(City, state and zone suffice.) Giving that information does help members/enablers in your area help you decide what musas to add to your collection (1 is not enough--100 might be) and guide you in how to make your new acquisitions thrive.

Well, i currently have 5 Canna varieties, 3 elephant ear varieties that are supposed to be cold hardy to zone 6ish, 2 Calla Lily varieties which need moved, a huge Stargazer lily, some Coneflower, and a lemon yellow Gaillardia.

Sounds like you're into pushing zones--good for you. I went to college in Asheville many moons ago. Returned 30 years later and could find my way around sans maps or GPS despite the changes--holy cow you have a mini beltway! (Grew up in DC--we have a real Beltway there!) Loved my time spent in the mountains in the early 70s. I was not a gardener then; I killed snake and spider plants--often. I do a wee bit better now. BTW, echinacea and gaillardia grow even in Brrrhio--spent a bit of time there also.

I cant really say i'm into pushing zones, because I've seen and had Cannas come back around here easily, so long as they're ground planted, and the elephant ears are from a breeder in Kentucky where the varieties i purchased online are supposedly hardy to with protection. The callas i have were extras given to me by my Grandmother from Newcastle P.A., where they come back for her. I also intend on adding to my garden plant collection if my Nana and I move to Tennessee.

Unless you have a huge, super heated greenhouse, you'll be pushing zones growing musas that produce edible fruits. Without such, it's doable but takes some real effort.

Im here mainly for ornamental purposes

Then basjoos will work for you. If you're having trouble locating them locally and nobody notices your choice of plants in the next few days, post a wanted on the board; many northern members grow them and probably have pups to spare.

Welcome! Try some cold hardy plants for fruit. Smaller varieties that are manageable.

Greenhouses can also be made for those long cold snaps. See Pinterist.

I see. I saw bananas for sale that were 3 or 4 inches long. they were so cute.
