hello
Hey all!
Well my name is Anthony. I'm in zone 6, Plymouth Pennsylvania and I'm 33yrs old. I've been growing a coffee tree for the past 3 years (arabica) and decided to try something new. ( got it to flower this year, but no fruit yet) I have no experience with banana growing so this is my first go at it. I've recently purchased two Musa Basjoo and I've got a blue java on the way. I'm pretty excited to get started! Funny thing, I absolutely hate bananas lol. I never eat them but I find the "trees" very attractive. I plan to stay potted this year and plant them next season. Im a little nervous about winterization but confident. Hope things go well and I can update here with my progress. |

Re: hello
I hate bananas too! Except really green ones. But I used to grow figs which I also hated so why not grow bananas also? Good luck with your coffee tree/bush. A friend on another forum actually harvested a few cherries and she's in Canada--the cold part.

Re: hello
There are all different types and flavors of tasty bananas, unfortunately they are not all available in Pa. unless you find a PR Giant or a like you never will, I'm sure he has one you would die for. I guess it's obvious he just sent me some goodies.

Re: hello
Welcome to the club! Don't like bananas? You just haven't tried a banana that you liked. I agree with scottu that there are so many types and flavors that the right one hasn't hit your pallet yet. There are also as many ways to use bananas as there are members on the org. But in the end the plant itself is super cool. Coffee plants? I may try that.

Re: hello
Yes I don't like bananas. I read about the ice cream bananas and they sounded good so I decided to order one and try it out. ..it sounds pretty tasty!
Coffee plants alone are a very nice plant IMO. Even if I never get it to fruit it's still beautiful. Once I figure out how to upload pics I'll put one up lol |
