Hello
Hello Everyone,
I am a new tropical enthusiast from Maryland. I enjoy growing bananas, cold hardy palms, and other zone-defying plants. I currently have 12 or so bananas, all smaller than 3' for now as well as a musa ensete that is around the 5' mark growing like crazy indoors. I have learned lots lurking here for a year or so, and finally decided to post a brief introduction. With the extreme drought we had this summer, I was spending at least an hour a day watering. My bananas did not grow very well this year because of the 90-95 degree temps and low humidity we had, which is very uncharacteristic of this area. I'm going to be adding to my gallery soon. |

Re: Hello
Hello saltydad, looks like we live close to one another and share some of the same hobbies. I am also into marine aquariums, I have a 55 gallon one now that I am cycling with a yellowtail damsel and a hermit crab. I eventually plan on starting a 125 gallon reef aquarium in my basement as soon as I win the lottery LOL.

Re: Hello
Marc, be sure to check out aquariumforum.com, run also by our very own Chief here, Jarred. A great place to learn, shmooze, show off your tanks, etc. Keep us posted on your tank(s) as they progress. Some pics would also be nice.

Re: Hello
Hi Marc, jump right in, the water is warm.. Glad to have you participating and looking forward to seeing pics of your zone defying feats.
@saltydad, thanks for the plug, comrade. Some fun stuff in store for over there in the next months ahead, we'll have a routine tank of the month contest once we get the code out of the laboratory.

Re: Hello
Hello and welcome! I know what you mean about "uncharacteristic" weather. We had floods then drought then floods. I was real surprised anything survived! Anyway, I'll def do some lurking and check out your aquarium[s]!
