Welcome aboard, Anaxagoras :) ! If i'm not mistaken, you're in Seguida, Latvia? Very challenging place for growing bananas! But we have members up in Canada growing beautiful bananas so ya should do all right!
It's a very friendly & info-packed site with special sections devoted to cold-hardy bananas & over-wintering techniques! If ya have any questions about using the forum, just ask.

Sigulda is town where my relatives have private house with small garden, but i live in capital of Latvia - Riga. I think that in Canada are warmer or hotter summers.
