Default Greetings from North Dakota!

Hi all. I love bananas and have always been fascinated by the plants themselves (as well as other tropical and sub tropical plants). I live on the edge of zone 3b/4a here in the US. It hasn't stopped me from trying to grow things here that normally don't. I got a blue java banana tree last May and threw it in a pot. It grew wonderfully over the summer. I had 3 pups growing in the pot at one point.

Fall I started getting it acclimated to the indoors. Through the winter the growth slowed, but it remained healthy. Unfortunately, my heater went out on me in the room it was in during the first really cold night of 2021. It got down to -33C outside, and I'm sure the temp inside was probably around -12C, if not colder. I know for sure the mother died (it's fallen over and soft). The pups are still pretty "solid", but I don't know if they're actually still alive or not.

I'm not giving up though! I'm going to be changing my strategy up a bit this next year so I can keep them going. Any advice is surely welcome!

Grow your plant as you would any other tropical.
If you do a YouTube internet search you will find many how to videos to best grow your plant. Pick and choose what will work for you.
