Greetings from the North

Hello everyone, glad I finally found a nice and active forum with lots of great info. I have been interested in banana plants for some time. But all that is available locally are decorative/non fruiting or blank stares. So this year I bought two plants, a Ice Cream and Apple variety. Not sure how it's all going to work since I am in zone 5 but I'll give it a whirl.

Welcome!

My Raja Puri I got as an 8" plant in early June now has leaves that are just under 5' long, and growing. I'm going to try and keep this one growing in our new sunroom, which has a high enough ceiling and hopefully adequate light. I don't dare try and store it since I understand the Raja Puri is prone to rot from storage.

Just don't know what I'm gonna do this winter... too many plants, too little space!

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone:nanadrink: I plan too keep my nanners in the my living room for the winter as it has high ceilings and gets pretty good light from the west. Hopefully they won't crowd me for space!

I just brought mine in today as it's been getting rather cool at nite this week (mid 40's) Hardly fit throught the door and had some weight for it small size. You have had your bananas to fruit and your in zone 5-6. What is you secret, send some luck my way!
