Welcome to the org. Don't let any failures with seed germination discourage you. This has happened many times to the best growers on earth. Check the past forums on seed germination and you will be well on your way to success. Good luck.

Welcome Vasilis (Grape Saint) to Bananas dot org!
One of the best ways described by Tog Tan (a knowledgable and beloved deceased member) to germinate banana seeds is to place the seeds with the "fruit" partially intact in a sealed plastic container with a very slight amount of water (maintaining HIGH Humidity) keeping it in a warm spot till they germinate. The decaying fruit provides acidic component that aids germination. You can check out his photos by locating his photo album in the photo gallery. Welcome to bananas dot org, from the Sunshine State, native land of Vitus rotundifolia!!! ![]() |

Welcome Vasilis, Greetings from Canada
We germinate banana seeds regularly. We use a peat moss mix that has vermiculite and perlite added for drainage. If you add enough water to your growing medium to make it just moist (not wet). and put it in a baggie. Add the banana seeds just below the surface of the soil and keep between 78 to 84 degrees F. we open the baggies daily for air and usually get fair results from this. We found it was the only method that worked for some of the harder to germinate seeds such as Musella Lasiocarpa. Hope you find a method that works well for you. The rarepalmseeds website has a lot of helpfull advice and tips from people that have purchased their banana seeds and posted how they germinated them, and their results. ![]() |
