![]() Hi, i'm a French banana and palmtree grower.
I live in Normandie. My climate is oceanic (short summer, short winter but long automne and spring without heat). My dream is growing edible bananas in my garden. |

![]() What other plants grow well in your area? If there are citrus, you're golden. If not, you'll have to work harder to protect your bananas but it's very possible to do. What are your lowest winter temperatures? And are they prolonged? Hoping someone on the forum with similar weather checks in and adds their knowledge. Good luck!

![]() Thank you all,
My climate is verry special. In winter, the temp doesn't go often under -4°c. Last winter, it has freeze 3 weeks long (-1 to -3°c). This winter there was no frost. The major problem here is to much rain, soil moisture and mouldiness, because of the low temps. I try to grow a citrus : satsuma myagawa. Trachycarpus fortunei and wagnerianus are growing very well, chamerops humilis, sabals and butia too. Washingtonia and phoenix died because of moisture/mildew. Nothing is protected during winter in my garden. |
